Cliff Arnold

Cliff Arnold was a 58-year-old married man living in Bradley, South Carolina. He lost his work in September of 2022, due to health issues. In November of 2022, he had to go to the hospital with no insurance due to an infection in his kidney. He was unable to do plasma exchange treatment due to the cost of the procedure. He believed that if he had been able to afford the treatment, he could have returned to work.

While Cliff was finally able to qualify for disability insurance that covered dialysis, Cliff’s health had steadily declined with each passing year to the point where he could not qualify for kidney transplantation. We are devastated to share that Cliff passed away earlier in 2025 due to his long-standing health complications.

We are grateful to Cliff for having the courage to share his story with us, including speaking publicly about his challenges during our launch event in 2024. His story is an important message that affordable, accessible healthcare can mean the difference between life and death for South Carolinians.

“If y’all could close that gap and open the ability for people to have more healthcare, it’s just something I can’t even tell you how exponentially that would help this state, the people of this state.”
